Blackjack Strategy

The allure of blackjack is that a skilled player of blackjack has the best odds of nearly any casino game. You’ve heard the old saying “the house always wins”; the reason is because casino games are designed to favor the casino far more often than the player. You are pretty much leaving your success or failure in the hands of pure dumb luck — and that can be a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong. There’s absolutely nothing like beating long odds and walking away with a bundle of surprise money, and it happens all the time.

On the other hand, to win as big as possible, as consistently as possible, you have to have luck and skill on your side. You get luck on your side by keeping the odds as closely to your favor as possible, and that’s why you choose a game like blackjack. You get skill on your side by understanding the rules and how the odds work, and that’s why you’re here.

Strategy, Part One:

Unlike the blunt statistics of online roulette or online slots (where each result has the same chance of happening, every time), there’s a pattern and a rhythm to blackjack that is a little like math and a little like music. When you see how the possibilities fall on a simple chart, the choices that you have to make start to make just a little more sense.

Granted, very few casinos offer single-deck blackjack, but the basic patters are the same and are well worth committing to memory. If you are interested, there are plenty of examples of strategy cards online, for all variations of single and multiple deck blackjack with all the various rule variations taken into account.
